Boy, it would be fun if Al Gore changed his mind and ran for president -- fun for the voters, anyway. Imagine a candidate whose preelection book is devoted in large part to an attack on the media for waging war on reason.
On the one side, a president who campaigned on a balanced-budget pledge, then dug the country hundreds of billions of dollars deeper into debt with huge tax cuts and an unpaid-for war, and now promises a balanced budget four years after he leaves office.
And this one...
...we don't make it easy for politicians to admit, as most voters do, that abortion is an agonizing question.
And now I'm going to go catch up on grading and Latin. Really.
Coincidentally, I also happen to adore E. J. Dionne, and his tribute column to her was spot on. I love the term that Dionne coined for her: Joyful Outrage. It fits. Beautifully, hysterically.
