Greetings, all!

I'm really excited to be stage managing a collection of one act plays for Mobtown Players here in Baltimore. They're using this to kick off their new playwrights group, and it's looking to be really interesting.

For the Rude Mechanicals on my list, Mobtown's theater is the same space that hosted Much Ado About Nothing in February 2007. They've been doing a lot of repairs and enhancements, as well, so it's a really nice space.

This, of course, leads us to the audition notice!

Yes, that last weekend of the One Acts run is Easter weekend, but there isn't a performance on Easter Sunday itself.

So if you're in the Baltimore area and interested in new, original one act plays, come on out!

From The Book of Lost Books: An Incomplete History of All the Books You'll Never Read by Stuart Kelly (boldfaced emphasis mine):

Aristophanes' plays combine Crates' philosophical speculation with Cratinus' energetic satire. Aristophanes was a very literary comedian, and the loss of The Poet, The Muses, Sappho, and Heracles the Stage Manager not only robs us of examples of the earliest theatrical self-consciousness, but also prevents us seeing, askance, the literary world that indubitably furnished him with ample targets for ridicule (51).

So the other night I watched the 2-episode arc "Human Nature" and "Family of Blood" from season 3 of Doctor Who.

Yikes that's a lot of acting going on. Gorgeous, beautiful, sympathetic, heart-wrenching acting. Freema Agyeman and David Tennant, and... just yikes.

*Howls to go see Hamlet in the West End and Wonders when Agyeman is going to get another regular series like taking over for that twit Gwen on Torchwood*

And the season 3 DVD set [livejournal.com profile] charlotteb_ brought back from LA last spring? Doesn't have a disc 5, just a second disc 3. Which means I'm left hanging after "Family of Blood." *facepalm*

In unrelated news, there was a segment on Dog Whisperer about an actress's dog barking uncontrollably backstage during a production of Wicked. WTF? Where the hell is the stage manager?
