Bad news and...less bad news...
Jun. 8th, 2005 03:33 pmOkay, just to bring you folks who aren't my nearest and dearest up to speed, remember that Latin class I worked my patoot off in this past semester? Failed it. Crashed and burned. F. I suspect sabatouge in the engine, but that's another rant.
This leads us to the events of today. I was, of course, called in by my advisor/head of program. If there was any good news today, it's that she seemed far more worried than angry with me. The gist of our conversation was this. She was within her legal rights to boot me from the program outright for the F. However, my sheer brute effort over last semester was noticed by both her and the head of the graduate school, who just happened to be my German professor. They want to give me a second chance. However, they are not handing me a freebie. I am retaking Latin 510 this summer, beginning June 27. If I get an A in the class, I get to keep both my scholarship and stipend. If I get an A-, I get to keep my scholarship. If I get a B+ or a B, I get to continue to hang around.
That being said, she also gave me a lecture on a balanced life. *roll eyes* *grin* I am to exercise an hour a day. I am to wander a museum or two. I am to go out to dinner with my husband.
The best news of the day, however, is that the retake grade will completely wipe the F.
This little bastard took an open shot at my graduate career.
I will find a way to shoot back someday.
