Bad Girls may have been a so-so movie, but it has provided lovely userpic fodder for the Deadlands Journal.

The clothes... the hair... the music. Who could possibly have enjoyed 1977?

Falstaff, that's who. For the decade when taste took a holiday, the sexual revolution meant that wives could be merry -- and yet honest, too.

Windsor, 1977: the hair was long, the music was tacky, the clothes were polyester, and Falstaff was in his element. In the era that taste forgot, as the hippies turned into yuppies, the sexual revolution gave even the skuzziest men a bit of hope. Falstaff sniffs the scent of opportunity, or at least Old Spice.

The Rude Mechanicals return to the decade that produced many of them, to live out their fashion nightmare on stage. The audition forms were very clear: Everybody will disco. Fiercely devoted to both the authentic texts of William Shakespeare and the power of modern theater styles to make audiences laugh, cry, and wince in horror at trends they'd tried to forget, the Rude Mechanicals have attracted a devoted following both among audiences and among actors.

It's been a while since we've had a nice, mindless quiz )

What I've done so far today:

Got [livejournal.com profile] torberg to 0645 bus. This bodes well for when I start working.

Ate breakfast (cereal, grapefruit juice)

Got application packets for Howard County Community College squared away.

Got fax for transcript sent off to St. Bonaventure.

Got piddling copying done I needed to.

Went to post office and mailed request for transcript to City College.

Went to Howard County Community College and dropped application packet off at both HR and the English Department. The chair, Dr. Hart, is out sick today, but apparently they're pretty short handed, from what her assistant said. (Yes, I got the shiny new job at PGCC, but the pay frankly sucks and the third class is not guaranteed. I really need to start polishing writing to send out while I'm at it.)

Did not gorge on fast-food crap, but went to Produce Galore and bought lunchmeat and a small (i.e., 1 serving size) bag of chips for lunch, which I will prepare after I finish posting.

After lunch will be library time. I'll take back the audiobooks I checked out before Christmas, pick up the boatload that are waiting for me on hold, and start puzzling out the PGCC Adjunct Binder (no kidding--they issued me a binder) and the texts for next semester. Yes, I have a lot of teaching experience, but I'm facing a learning curve on this one. And maybe, just maybe even manage to figure out where the heck to go with the Deadlands Journal, or, gasp, work on the outline for the urban fantasy that's been banging around in my head for nearly a year now.

And that's as far ahead as I dare look for now. Off to lunch!
