Hey!
angevin2!
Jan. 2nd, 2007 01:12 pmThe portrait of Richard II's coronation (aka the Wilton Diptych) is the painting of the month over at the British National Gallery. Hee.
( For those of you who just can't wait. )
I love that I can recognize childhood depictions of 600-year-old monarchs on sight...
EDIT: I know that it isn't actually his coronation. It's Richard's theoretical presentation to the Virgin, but it's generally conceded that the all gold outfit he's wearing in the portrait is a representation of the golden clothes (and jewelry, and shoes--no kidding, shoes) he did wear when he was crowned at the age of ten.
