Per their auntie cousin, they're not doing too badly:
The twins are doing as well as can be expected, which sounds more dire than I mean it to be. They're both fighters, from what I'm told, but they're tiny and it's a long road. Their names are N. and S. .... N. was 1 lb, 10oz when she was born, and S. was 1 lb, 6 oz. S. had a hole in her heart, which has been surgically closed, and her lung collapsed once, but they reinflated it. And terrifyingly (to me, anyhow), they fully expect it will collapse again (or the other one will), at least once. At which point they will reinflate it again . . . Apparently both these things are very common problems in extreme preemies. N. had a hole in her ileum (intestine), which they have repaired. Again, it's a common complication with babies this tiny. I don't know how big the girls are now, but my cousin B., the babies' aunt, is very optimistic about their outlook. We just keep praying that things continue as well as they have been going. (And the family definitely appreciates all the prayers, so keep them coming!)
