Just recieved this information from work. Hunker down and take back/local roads this weekend if you can, folks.

Because I've read Matthew Pearl's excellent novel, The Dante Club recently, I thought some Alighieri via Longfellow would be interesting today. This is the first canto of Dante's Paradisio.

La gloria di colui che tutto move / per l’universo penetra, e risplende / in una parte più e meno altrove. )
You can find the original, entire Paradisio here at Project Gutenberg.

And for those of us who don't read medieval Italian, Longfellow's (et al's) translation:

The glory of Him who moveth everything / Doth penetrate the universe, and shine / In one part more and in another less. )

And, bless those folks at Project Gutenberg, here is the entirety of the translation.

Additionally, I stumbled upon the incredibly outstanding Dante Project at Princeton University while fixing up various versions of this post (I think, as of this last edit, it makes four, maybe five). It's got all sorts of nifty interactive things, like audio files, links to commentaries on specific lines, and all kinds of poetry geekery.
