Writers and such...
Jan. 6th, 2008 01:11 pmI am, at best, an interested onlooker in the world of comics. I owe most of what I know to my gaming group and husband. I don't read anything on a regular basis, although I try to remember to haul myself to the comic store for Buffy: Season Eight, Angel: Season Six, and Fables (
cats_n_crying , stop twitching).
That being said, I find this essay on the recent continuity rollback of Spiderman absolutely facinating, even though I don't actually read the comic. I'm interested in what the more comic book-literate of my friendslist thinks about it.
I do know that I've witnessed the same phenomena in "regular" fiction writers, such as Mercedes Lackey and Laurell K. Hamilton. Granted there were other circumstances to go along with the laziness/pandering to a misunderstood and underestimated fanbase that
theferrett cites, but I find it interesting nonetheless.
