Tamora Pierce, as dr_zrfq said above is completely rockin. Writing is quality (even her first series!), incredibly imaginative, and "OMG!!!OTL!!!" is the OPPOSITE of what happens in the books (thank God).

Does she read Terry Pratchett yet?
