icewolf: snowy wolf ("Oh Joy")
First, the good news. We saw the house today and it's very nice. Lives up to the hype, as it were. Unfortunately, we were one of about four parties who submitted rental applications just this morning. It's MY house! How dare they apply to live in MY house?! More good news, we explained about Darcy (10 years old, front declawed, and neutered) and the owner was cool. One of the other people who applied has two intact-in-all-senses-of-the-word which he sounded less than entranced with. (I can't imagine what claws would do to a hardwood floor *shudder*.) Even more good news, he's already started checking our references. So everybody think good thoughts.

The owie news: while exploring the neighborhood on foot, I stepped off a curb and sprained my ankle pretty badly. I'm in an air-cast for four weeks and I have a prescription for really good drugs. The good news that a couple of people from the neighborhood helped me up and stayed with me while [livejournal.com profile] torberg got the car.

And now there are people here, and I'm going to go shoot things to feel better. (I love Deadlands!)

The house I was gushing about yesterday?

The sale price has dropped another $6K.

*dies*

Edit: [livejournal.com profile] torberg and I aren't looking to buy right now. We're just not in a position to do so. Remember, the house is for sale, rent, or rent-to-own. I see the drop in price as something that makes something that I (think I) want more attractive to other people.

No, I've never shared particularly well. Why do you ask?

So, [livejournal.com profile] torberg and I are getting ready to re-up on our lease on a month-to-month basis. It's not that we don't like our place, it's more that we've outgrown apartment living. It's either get a bigger place, or get a storage locker (which we've also considered). And I'd really rather not put my pretty wedding presents away in a storage locker where I'll never see them. (Not that I see them much now, but you know what I mean.) Additionally, we think that having a management office able to spell our names correctly after having been corrected multiple times, in writing, might be a novel idea. And post 1980 appliances. And fewer bugs.

Unfortunately, Columbia is just not affordable. The lowest priced come in in the neighborhood $1500/mo. Actually, that's the low end of the neighborhood. And buying isn't really an option right now, either.

I was poking around Long & Foster's website today, though and found a few nice-looking places in--wait for it--Baltimore.

My commute to school would actually be pretty straight forward. Hope MARC to Union Station, hop metro to CUA. PGCC would be a haul, but on the other hand, [livejournal.com profile] torberg's commute devolves to practically nothing. He can return to his beloved mass transit. Rudes rehearsals would be far more of a commitment. Maybe we could carpool with [livejournal.com profile] composerscott.

Anyhow, on to the pictures and such...
