I do so love Carolyn Hax.

Additionally, WOW do I have sane parents, my past opinions on the subject notwithstanding. In today's chat, there's been a father-in-law who barged in on a woman in recovery from her C-section (fortunately throwing up 5-6 times in ten minutes shamed him into retreating), and another father who's invited his brother to stay at his daughter-the-new-mom's-house, which isn't even fully unpacked yet. Today seems to be a day for nutty dads, but moms have been discussed at length in past chats.
My parents have been kind, generous, and respectful. Granted, I think their reluctance to come into the delivery room stems more from squeamishness than respect, but still. They know we don't have a guest room (although we do have a better-than-most sofa bed), and are planning on a couple of nights in a hotel. I must remember to send them flowers at some point.
In other news, horseradish and haroset on matzos is, in addition to being niftily alliterative (and perhaps an Israeli children's book) an incredibly satisfying lunch. (Cleans out the sinuses a treat, too!)
Today's theme: How introducing a new element to old relationships shifts the emotional garments just enough to expose everyone's backside.
